My cousin Bethany and I just took a road trip from Seattle to Portland. We listened to “The Thing About Pam” podcast from Dateline all the way down and part of the way back. The last leg of the trip was occupied by three additional stories from the Crime Junkie podcast. Podcasts due make the drive time go faster, but now I feel like I’m looking over my shoulder for a potential murderer every 15 minutes.
The trip was filled with lot of laughs, stopping for photo opps, tax free shopping, and Voodoo doughnuts. We filled up on delicious BBQ with another one of my cousins, Lacey, and her husband David in the Sellwood neighborhood. This is a super cute little neighborhood with fun shops to peek around in. I picked up some “Sleep Butter” infused with melatonin and enjoyed the street art. I’m such a hipster LOL.
In my opinion, it’s not a real stop in Portland if you don’t swing by Powell’s Bookstore downtown. We also visited the Portland Saturday market and I now have a better understanding of why it’s pretty easy to “Keep Portland Weird”. Urbanite was also a very unique stop featuring things new and old and claims it’s “the best place to furnish your place”.
